We see babies, children and young people who have a diagnosis, for example:
- Cerebral Palsy and other neurological conditions
- Developmental Co-ordination Disorder/Dyspraxia
- Down’s Syndrome and other genetic conditions/syndromes
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), including Asperger’s Syndrome
- Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis or other rheumatological conditions
- Developmental Delay/Learning Disabilities
- Prematurity
- Joint hypermobility
And those who have difficulties with:
- Fine motor skills or hand strength
- Personal care e.g. dressing, using cutlery, toileting, getting in/out of the bath
- Handwriting skills
- Organisation
- Coping with nursery or school life
- Sensory processing
- Visual perception
We also see children who have new long or short term needs, for example have orthopaedic issues or require rehabilitation following surgery, injuries sustained in an accident or have an acquired brain injury.
In addition, we have contact with a local private hand therapist who we can refer to for hand rehabilitation and splinting.
