Our sports injury clinic is open 8.30-6.30 Monday to Saturday (we do screen calls on a Sunday in case anyone wishes to book in urgently on Monday)

Wendy Joy MCSP - Senior Physiotherapist

Wendy Joy - Senior PhysiotherapistWendy is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and is a state registered physiotherapist (SRP) with the Health Professions Council. She is also a member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP) and of ATACP the Aquatic Therapy Association Of Chartered Physiotherapists (formerly the HACP Hydrotherapy Association of Chartered Physiotherapists). Anyone using the title “chartered physiotherapist” must be registered with the HPC, always check a physiotherapists details at www.hpc-uk.org.

Wendy qualified in 1991 from the Middlesex Hospital School of physiotherapy in central London. She has since regularly attended continuing professional development courses to develop and keep her current skills up to date.

Over the years she has worked in both NHS settings, private hospitals and sports injury clinics in Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole. Her specialist area of interest is paediatrics and she has worked in the paediatric departments in both Portsmouth and Poole. Wendy also has extensive hydrotherapy experience and runs a weekly clinic in Poole.

At the end of 2006 Wendy set up Total Children’s Therapy from which children with developmental, neuro-muscular, congenital conditions or musculoskeletal problems are seen. From here she also provides a consultancy service to schools regarding therapy input during the school day.

 


Rowena Johns - Senior Occupational Therapist

Rowena Johns - Senior Occupational TherapistRowena is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists and is state registered with the Health Professions Council. She is also a member of the 'children young people and families' section of the College of Occupational Therapists.

Rowena gained her degree from St Loyes School of Occupational Therapy, Exeter, in 1998. Since qualifying she has worked with adults with learning disabilities before moving into her chosen specialist area of paediatrics six years ago. A mother of two, she has worked both in Dorchester and Poole Hospitals with children from birth to 18 years of age with a variety of developmental and neurological needs/conditions.

 


Jane Reynolds MCSP - Senior Physiotherapist

Jane Reynolds MCSP - Senior PhysiotherapistJane is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and is a state registered physiotherapist (SRP) with the Health Professions Council. She qualified from the University Of Southampton in 2003 having previously had a career as a paramedic.

Jane has worked with a variety of client groups, but has chosen the speciality of children's therapy. She has been a part of the paediatric team at Poole Hospital since September 2005 working with a variety of children with many different conditions. Her specialty is working with children with neurodevelopmental conditions, and has studied for a post registration qualification with the Bobath Centre in London.

She has worked for Hampshire County Rugby under 16's squad both on the pitch side and in clinics.

 


Caroline Webster MCSP - Senior Physiotherapist

Caroline Webber MCSP - Senior PhysiotherapistCaroline is a member of the chartered society of physiotherapy (MCSP) and is a state registered physiotherapist (SRP) with the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Caroline qualified in 1996 from West London Institute, now Brunel University. Since qualifying she has worked with adults for two years before specialising in Paediatrics in the year 1998. A mother of two, Caroline has worked in a number of hospitals in the south coast including Winchester, Poole and Dorchester. She covered a variety of clinical settings including neurodevelpomental, neurology, orthopaedics and rheumatology, with children from birth to 18 years. The last five years Caroline has lead the Paediatric Orthopaedic physiotherapy service at Southampton General Hospital which covers in-patients, out-patients and regional specialist clinics.

 


Karina Parish BHSc (Hons) HPC - Senior Occupational Therapist

Karina Parish - Senior Occupational TherapistKarina is an occupational therapist with over 14 years experience of working with adults and children. She qualified in 1991 after studying at the University College of Ripon and York St John. She specialized in paediatrics in 2001 and previous to this worked with children and adults in a variety of clinical settings, including rheumatology, brain injury, neurology and orthopaedics.

Karina has completed further course specializing in developmental co-ordination disorders, sensory integration difficulties and in conducting standardized assessments.

 


Pam Shults - Senior Occupational Therapist

Karina Parish - Senior Occupational TherapistPam has worked in the field of children’s therapy for the majority of her professional life, over 25 years. She is a registered occupational therapist and is a member of the British association of occupational therapists. She has undertaken many post graduate training courses in the field of children’s therapy, disabilities, children’s special equipment and in health and in health and social care management. She maintains her skills and knowledge through continual professional development.

Pam has worked in social services specialising in children’s needs, in the health sector as a children’s occupational therapist and as a manager of children’s specialist therapy services in Dorset and Hampshire. She has studied and qualified in massage and aromatherapy and has also run clinics for children using these skills.

Pam has delivered training not only to other occupational therapists but to many different professional groups including special educational needs co-ordinator groups, to child care students (and similar) and has been invited to lecture at conferences such as the royal society of medicine conference, and association of charted paediatric physiotherapists.

Pam was very involved with establishing the governments national early support programme for families and very young children with disability and was an early support consultant for the south west region. She was the designated co-ordinator in establishing key working in the Bournemouth, Poole and in the East Dorset area, which involved consultation and involvement of parents, carers, children and young people.

Pam’s specialist clinical areas are in assessing and working with babies, disabled children and young people.

 


MIRANDA KIDNER (MRCSLT) - Senior Speech and Language Therapist

MIRANDA KIDNER - Speech and Language TherapistMiranda is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and is state registered with the Health Professions Council.  She qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1992 when she gained her degree in Speech Sciences from University College London and since then has worked with children and their families in both the UK and Australia.  Miranda has worked in the Bournemouth and Poole area for ten years.  She has worked in a variety of settings including pre-schools, schools, Children's Centres, a pre-school language base, community clinics and specialist bases for children with learning difficulties.

 


Sian Awford BA(Hons) MRCSLT - Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Sian Awford - Speech and Language TherapistSian is a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist with many years experience in Dorset. With a career long interest in children with specific speech and language difficulties and those on the autistic spectrum, she was instrumental in the planning and early development of the first three Dorset Speech and Language Bases, in the 1990s in Christchurch. With a developing interest in social skills, signing, communication aids and staff training She has been working at Livability's Victoria Education Centre in Poole since 2005. An enthusiastic and innovative therapist, she is committed to a total communication approach in a multi-disciplinary team.

 


Michelle E Bohill BSc (Hons), PGDip, MRCSLT, MHPC - Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Michelle E Bohill - Speech and Language TherapistMichelle is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and registered with the Health Professions Council. She graduated in Speech and Language Therapy in 2002 from City University, London. Previous to this, Michelle obtained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from Portsmouth University and spent four years teaching.

Michelle has specialised in Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy and has been based in the Dorset area working in community clinics, mainstream schools, special schools and pre-school special needs settings. Now a mother of two, Michelle is based within a multi-disciplinary hospital team. She is able to provide assessment, diagnosis (of Speech and Language difficulties), therapy and programmes for a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.

 


Matthew Hughes - Paediatric Orthotist

Matthew Hughes - Paediatric OrthotistMatthew Hughes, is a highly experienced paediatric orthotist who will regularly hold clinics at TCT to assess, cast and fit a whole variety of orthotic aids from insoles to AFO’s. Matthew currently works as the orthotic manager at Dorset Orthopaedic, Ringwood. We are very pleased that he will now be providing a regular orthotic service at Total Childrens Therapy and be part of our growing multi-disciplinary team..

 


Peta Petrou - Educational PsychologisT

Peta - Educational PsychologistPeta is an experienced educational psychologist. In the past she has worked as an assistant careers advisor, care assistant for children and adults with learning disabilities, junior school teacher, before settling on a career as an Educational Psychologist.

Peta has a special interest in the use of cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety and completed a course of training in these skills and frequently uses these skills in her practice.

Peta has a degree in Psychology, followed by teacher training and experience, and has completed her masters degree at Manchester University.  She has worked for Dorset for 6 years, for Bournemouth and then Poole Local Education Authorities and briefly on a private basis for an academy school.

 


Nicola Dawes BSc(Hons), PGDip, MRCSLT, MASLTIP - Speech and Language therapist

Nicky Nicky qualified in 2009 from City University, London. Since then, she has worked at Victoria Education Centre in Poole with a range of paediatric speech, language, communication and feeding difficulties. Nicky is particularly interested in low and high tech Alternative and Augmentative Communication systems ranging from symbols, PECS, switching and Makaton to Voice Output Communication Aids including eye gaze technologies.
